I was happy to be a part of celebrating the survivors of sex trafficking exhibit hosted May 10th at Portland City Hall. GEMS (Girls Educational and Mentoring Services) put together this event and art exhibit to benefit survivors. Over 20 female survivors created art for this event that included pictures of the women and their stories. These women are now giving back to society in one form or another.

More than a Survivor, More than a Story

This traveling photo exhibit, created by GEMS, in New York City, honors former victims of human trafficking who are now survivors and leaders. It celebrates these individuals for their beauty, strength, accomplishments, and a future beyond the trauma and stereotypes of commercial exploitation.

Mayor Charlie Hales spoke at the May 10th event as did Jeri Jimenez, a board member of YaYA Resources.

Come listen to my story

There is another opportunity to see this art exhibit and hear my story of how I survived, overcame and am leading young women out of an entrapped lifestyle. On May 16th from 4:00 – 6:00 pm I will be part of an open panel speaking and answering questions at Portland State University. Rotary International’s Dana Clark is hosting.  We are honoring the survivors, bringing awareness of sex trafficking, and educating to the public.

Please join us at PSU’s Parson Gallery on Monday, May 16, 2016.
